The venue where lectures and workshops will be held is unique in its role in the cultural heritage of Russia. The Union of Composers still functions at the House of Composers (Princess Gagarina’s mansion). The Union is one of the oldest and significant artistic organizations in Russia regarding its intellectual potential. Historical instruments including favorite grand pianos of  Rodion Shchedrin, Sergei Rachmaninov and Dmitri Shostakovich will be used during performances and master classes. Each participant will have an opportunity to sense the history and feel a special atmosphere of the House of Composers performing at the concert hall that witnessed Sergei Prokofiev, Mstislav Rostropovich, Galina Vishnevskaya and many others. The mansion is also widely known due to its exceptional architecture and interiors. Both the interior and the building itself are representation of the first Art Nouveau constructions in St. Petersburg.




In this apartment in the Square of Arts Isaac Brodsky lived the last fifteen years if his life. He founded a museum of Russian art of the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries where works of the most famous artists of that time are exhibited. A memorable environment of the museum immerses visitors in the 1920s-19320s era in Russia. Here you can enjoy masterpieces of I.E. Repin, V.I. Surikov, B.M. Kustodiev, F.A. Malyavin, A.Y. Golovin, A.N. Benois, B.D. Grigoriev in an intimate and warm ambience that creates a special closeness between visitors and art.



You will have the opportunity to perform in various concerts, including the Marble Room of the Marble Palace, St. Petersburg. Standing between Millionaya Street and the Neva River at the north-west corner of the Field of Mars, the Marble Palace is among the most impressive of St. Petersburg's former Imperial residences, and arguably the finest work of architect Antonio Rinaldi, a pioneer of neoclassicism in Russia. The Marble Palace was originally built for Count Grigory Orlov, who as a young artillery officer had led the conspiracy to dethrone Peter III in favour of the Emperor's wife, the future Catherine the Great. Don’t miss your chance to perform at the Marble Palace at the closing ceremony of the festival with your permanent chamber partner, other participant or musical illustrators of the "Grand Piano in Palace" – the soloists of the Mikhailovsky Theater orchestra., St. Petersburg Opera Theater. 



The Small Hall of the Philharmonia was opened in the  year 1949. But it is in this Hall that started the public concert life of the capital of the Russian Empire. Since 1802 the Petersburg Philharmonic Society organized open concert for music lovers introducing European music new pieses. Premiers take place in the Small Hall up to now. Moreover, it provides excellent acoustics.  The Small Hall has a rich history of concerts. Premiers of works by Shostakovich, Sviridov, Shchedrin, Petrov, Tishenko and Slomsky have taken place in the Small Hall. Many International festivals and competitions are organized in this hall. Listeners and musicians of all ages appreciate the ambience of Small Hall.

The festival and the competition will take place at the House of Composers in St. Petersburg June 21.06-28.06, 2020. Students of primary, secondary and advanced level, as well as students from Russia and abroad and musicians wich comers born not earlier than 1960 - without professional restrictions level.


You can also attend the festival as a guest. A program to be performed at master classes must be determined by a participant himself/herself. A program of your concert performance is to be shaped by the pedagogical staff members of the festival.


To select the best performers to participate in concerts in Russia and European countries on competition is possible the presence of impresario and managers in the field of classical music. Winners of the competition in each nomination and age category are awarded diplomas with the title of laureate and memorable gifts. For the most striking performance the competition has a special prize - Grand Prix, amounting to 5,000 euros and aimed at developing the winner’s international career, creating a personal website, support in organizing and conducting concerts. Teachers of participants, participants of the festival at the closing ceremony receive diplomas of participation in the festival and competition.

The jury is international: leading cultural figures, professors of Conservatoires of Russia and foreign countries.

The jury is formed by the organizing committee of the faculty festival and was not disclosed until the competition.


The jury has the right to:

- share, award and not award prizes and Grand Prix;

- reward participants with special diplomas (prizes).

The decisions of the jury are recorded in the minutes and are not subject to revision.

To take part in the competition you can apply in three nominations: 

1. Solo performance 

2. Piano duets for two pianos and four hands 

3. Solo performance with orchestra 

4. Ensemble performance with orchestra 

5. Chamber ensembles: 

- Duo (piano with a string, wind or percussion instrument); 

- Piano trio, quartet, quintet; 

- String, wind ensembles, trio, quartet and quintet;

- Solo singing, solo singing with different instruments, ensemble solo singin

The program of the festival will include concerts, master classes and lectures.

Competition age categories: 

1st category – up to 8 years old; 

2nd category – 9 to 11years old; 

3rd category – 12 to 14years old; 

4th category – 15 to17 years old; 

5th category – 18 to 21 years old; 

6th category – 22 to 27 years old; 

7th category – 27and older; 

To participate in the competition "GRAND PIANO IN PALACE": 

1st-2nd categories - FREE PROGRAM 5-7 minutes. 

3rd-4thcategories - FREE PROGRAM 10 minutes. 

5th-7thcategories - FREE PROGRAM 10-15 minutes. 

Program with orchestra - any part of concertos with orchestra for chamber orchestra. 


You must submit your application, copy of your birth certificate or passport, color photo in JPEG format (size 10х15) and participation fee until April 21, 2020.

The application must be filled out and sent by e-mail to the organizing committee:


The fee for participation of the one soloist is 350 euros*

  • The price includes four master classes.

  • The fee for participation of duets, trios, quartets (up to 7 people) – 350 euros for two / three person...

  • Simultaneous participation in other nominations (except for the nomination “solo performance with the orchestra ") free of charge.

  • Large chamber orchestra and children's orchestras are paid by agreement.


Also, the participation fee includes:


  • Classrooms for self-studies;

  • Daily concerts of the festival with the opportunity to participate;

  • Performance at the Gala concert of the Grand Piano in Palace festival in White Hall of the Marble Palace June 28, 2020;

  • Videos of your competitive performances and performances at the final Gala concert in the Marble Palace (will be ready on August 21, 2020).


Separately (additionally) paid:


  • Participation in the nomination “solo performance with the orchestra” – 150 euros

  • Each additional master class - 50 euros


Orphans and disabled people (of any groups) are exempted from paying the organizational fee disability), as well as 1 team and 1 soloist from each parent organization competition; contribution reduction is provided for soloists and groups from Leningrad region. The number of budget applications in each category is limited.

*In case when two or more siblings take part in the competition, only 50% of the participation fee is charged for the second (third) child.
